Tropical Storm Felicia hits Hawai tonight, 10th of August and it is expected that it will cause local flooding from the wind, rain and high surf that will reach the Big Islan and Maui before it moves on to O’ahu and Kaua’I by tomorrow.
“As the storm reaches after its dark, it makes us even more cautious about safety of people working at night particularly,” squoted Mahina Martin, County spokesperson.
“The storm is building up,” said Maj. Gen. Robert Lee of Army division. “It has reduced in intensity if compared to last years but it can still cause a lot of damage.”
The State’s weather department notified for the storm’s threats last night and informed that winds could blow at 45 mph. Such a warning denotes that the storm can strike within 2 days. At 2300 hours last night, Felicia was 560 miles of Honolulu approximately, though the effect can be already as the waves are getting bigger. But despite the warning, schools decided to remain open on Monday, although the decision for Tuesday will be taken after the assessing the situation again. Campsites and recreational activities near beaches will remain closed from today afternoon onwards.
