India on Friday 14 August night reported its 24th death due to the horrible H1N1 virus with demise of 70-year-old lady, Parubai Shinde, died because of swine flu here in Pune raising the death toll in this city to 15.
Pune is the worst stroked in India by the swine flu illness, witnessed quiet “Dahi Handi” festivity on the occasion of Lord Krishna’s birthday the “Janamasthami” along with so many public functions being cancelled first time in the history of Pune city.
70-year-old woman Parubai Shinde, resident of Ganesh Nagar in Yerawada (Pune), was admitted here in a hospital four days ago following the high fever and other swine flu symptoms died late tonight.
Another senior citizen woman Bharati Goyal, who was tormented from breathlessness and fever from last four days, was on ventilator at the time of death today was suspected of swine flu, hospital sources said.
An 18-year-old boy named Sitaram Varma collapsed in Raipur yesterday by suspected swine flu. It is the first such death in Chhattisgarh.
The boy, hailing from Bhilai was got of throat infection and pneumonia, hospital sources announced. Officer in-charge for swine flu cases in the Chhattisgarh State Mr. T. K. Agrawal said that boy’s throat swab had been sent to Delhi for the swine flu test since the boy recently came from Pune.
Besides these deaths in Pune, other cities Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Nashik, Chennai, Bangalore, Raipur and Thiruvananthapuram each witnessed one persons death due to this viral infection and two persons died in Mumbai.
